What our clients say

We get to meet so many incredible people through swimming and it is our honour and a pleasure to share our knowledge and passion in order to help others achieve their goals. The Ocean Walker Technique has become more than just a swim stroke, which is why we have created this page for YOU to share your Ocean Walker story with the rest of the World.

Steve Cooks Story

In 2015, 55 year old Steve Cook was just at the beginning of his new found passion for Ironman events, when a car collided with him from behind while out training on his bike. Steve almost died. With 22 broken bones and paralysed from the waist down, he was advised that he would never walk again.
Determined to find a way to get back into sport, Steve set his sight on swimming, but due to his legs dragging he couldn’t manage a length without causing terrible pain to his shoulders. A Pull Buoy caused his back to cramp, and Steve was struggling to carry on. Then he read about Adam Walker and the Ocean Walker Technique he created. Feeling like this was his last chance, Steve contacted Adam and arranged for his first 5 hour session in Lincoln. In just one session, Steve got his legs up to the surface and into an efficient body position. He could swim a length without hurting his shoulders and there has been no stopping him ever since!

Trisha and Rachels Story

Mother and Daughter duo Trisha Harvey and Rachel Hughes became the first Mother and Daughter Relay team to swim the North Channel in July 2017 and we are honored to have been a part of it. British Iron-woman Champ Trisha, wanted a new challenge when her running was impaired through knee injury. She found Adam Walker and booked herself onto a Swim Camp to learn the Ocean Walker Technique, and found that she could push herself in a new direction, with the aim to swim a channel. Trisha and Rachel did just that, but not only one Channel, they swam both the North Channel, (Ireland to Scotland) and then the English Channel (England to France) in the same year! The challenge to swim a channel relay is tough as it is, but with a team of 2…swimming 2 hours non-stop each, was something else altogether. These two determined ladies absolutely cracked it and in doing so became the first Mother and Daughter (TEAM MAD) to do so!

Find out how Trisha and Rachel became World Record Holders in their video interview

Hannah Meyers Story

National swimmer Hannah tore both of her shoulders in college while trying to qualify for National Level Swim Meets.
The injury lead to loss of feeling in her hands and elbows as well as causing migraine headaches.
Hannah found out about the Ocean Walker Technique and during a trip to London, she arranged to come over and have some 1-1 training with Adam Walker in the pool. She couldn’t swim 1 mile without suffering neck pain, but following 1 session with Adam, Hannah is happy to report that she is regularly swimming 5k+ with zero pain.

It’s faster and more efficient than any other open water swim technique out there – plus it’s applicable to longer distance pool swimming.

Watch Hannah’s video interview to find out how she turned her swimming around following injury

He has worked miracles with me!

Due to an accident at work 3 years ago I’ve developed major back issues, and after numerous procedures, surgery etc it had stopped me swimming !!

I started hydrotherapy and swimming again but was in massive discomfort with my back and also shoulders !!!! So I decided to reach out to the swimming community and ask for advice ….. Adam contacted me and said he wanted to help, which was fantastic !!

I had a session with Adam at the beautiful Woodhall Spa , and what can I say ….. it was fabulous !!! Adam is so passionate about swimming and helping others in need, he’s a fantastic teacher and I couldn’t of wished for a better outcome !! He had me swimming with less strokes per length …… 16 seconds faster per length and more importantly ….. NO PAIN !!!!! I couldn’t believe it !!

I was in such a bad place physically and mentally before my lesson with Adam, he has worked miracles with me, and again I just want to say a massive thank you to Adam and Gemma, you guys have given me that second chance at swimming !!!

Never give up on your dreams !!
Thanks Jim

A terrific experience!

A one-to-one half day session with Adam was a terrific experience. Adam is a great coach and the video analysis is a good way to see what you’re going wrong, and when you get it right. I now feel that I have the tools to build the stroke that I want.
It was also a privilege to be taught by someone who’s at the very top of his sport and has completed a feat of endurance achieved by very few.

Andrew Pedder

One of the best days of my life!

Meeting Adam was a revelation! I had a 2 on 1 lesson with Adam and can easily call this one of the best days of my life!
I took up triathlon a year ago and wasn’t getting anywhere with my freestyle. Now, when I see “regular swimmers” it looks so “violent” and exhausting. So if what you’re doing is not working, do something else! I am so glad I did.

Heike Motzek

5 minutes quicker!

WOW! 1 week on from my first lesson, I’ve just done an Ironman distance training swim that was 5 minutes quicker than I’ve done this year! Equaled my fastest time ever and was SO EASY I could have happily carried on! Absolutely thrilled!

Simon Oldacre

I swim completely differently now!

After an ongoing shoulder injury I decided to try out Adam’s swim technique to see if that would help. I really enjoyed the 1:1 sessions and felt that I learnt a lot at a really good pace. I swim in a completely different manner now and with practice I am the same speed I was before but without risking hurting my shoulders again. Thank you Adam!

Sylvia Boker

I now swim in the fast lane!

The videos you supplied following the session are excellent and I have worked with them since. I now swim in the fast lane at my pool. Not because I want to swim fast but my OWT normal pace is too fast for the medium lane! At the age of 75 I get bemused looks at the turn as most are in their 20s/30s.

Bob Hodgetts

A Great Teacher

Adam is a terrific and patient teacher. I had two one-on-one sessions with him and also a group session. The OW stroke is worth persisting with and refining on your own – it has made my swimming far more efficient and enjoyable. I became confident enough to participate in a sponsored Swimathon (indoor) for charity, and now have my sights set on an open water equivalent. Thanks for your guidance and patience Adam, it made a huge difference for me.

Nick Achilleos

A great and unique swimming experience!

I had the opportunity to work with Adam for 3 days over his specific approach to comfortable, joyful, strong and effective swimming! I am thankful to Adam as I had the time to realise and discuss what are the hydrodynamic impacts of every part of the freestyle stroke! Genius indeed! Less than a week later I feel the ultimate gliding and fully comfortable to swim for more than 3 km without any feeling of fatigue to my shoulders! Mostly I feel that the water resistance is much lower than before which leads to faster and easier swimming! Thank you Adam!!!

I Cant Believe It

After seeing endless videos on instagram of Adam swimming using his own technique and the effortlessness plus the speed he was creating i thought i wanna piece of that. But still not being a 100% believer of how or if it really does work i decide to take the gamble and book onto a one day masterclass to see first hand how it works and whether it could work for me. Well what can i say after the masterclass i have never looked back, i am so glad that i chose to take the gamble. I cant wait to see what i can do in 2019 with this technique.

Southampton Follow up clinic

I went to my first clinic with Adam in April 2017. This was prompted by hearing him interviewed on radio about his developing a technique for endurance swimming having had shoulder surgery. I had begun open water swimming with a Triathlon club in 2015 but was struggling to do more than 500m because of chronic shoulder bursitis.
I learned the basics of the stroke but found it difficult to practice within my club sessions as the drills and the stroke were so different. As a result I found myself swimming a combination of what I was doing before and some of the Walker technique. I planned to attend another clinic in April 2018 but had to cancel, so booked onto the Southampton clinic in October 2018.
By then I had a lot more experience of open water swimming on my own. However I was still having flare ups of pain in my shoulder whenever I trained hard with my club.
At the clinic I realised that I was not swimming what I believed was the correct technique and would have to go back to basics. Having Adam and Gemma in the water with me and actually positioning me correctly was a huge help. The discussion afterwards while reviewing the morning’s filming was essential to my understanding of where I was going wrong. In the weeks that followed I practiced the drills in the slow lane and finally started to feel the timing and stages of the stroke coming together. In another week or so I’ll get some video done for feedback from Adam or Gemma.
Learning anything new takes time. Learning the Ocean Walker technique requires unlearning previous swimming experience before the new stroke can be embedded. It isnt enough to go to one clinic and go away and practice. Constant review and reinforcing by correct teaching – either by follow up clinics, 1:1, webinar or personal Skype sessions – is vital.
My current swimming target is to compete at distances of 2-3k in 2019 without pain.
In 2018 I managed a sea swim of 3k and several other competitive events from 750m to 2.5k without discomfort so I have no doubt that 2019 is going to be the year when I can say I am a fully fledged OW swimmer!

Fun, very professional… and moreover efficient! What else?

I started to learn swimming at 30 years old, and after 10 years of struggling, with so many and often opposite advices in different lessons/stages, I decided to make a trip to Lincoln for a 3 days 1 to 1 lessons. I have followed Adam’s Facebook for the last 2 years and have asked myself if it could apply to myself, as I am very stiff, not tall, with a very bad kick.

Adam is a very good teacher: He takes care of the details, adapts the gesture to yourself, your body, your capabilities. He is patient and tries to find out what is wrong, what can be improved. He is moreover friendly and makes the lesson enjoyable!

The methodology starts from the very beginning (basically how to float in the water) and goes through different stages with each time a new small step… until the full movement with the kick. It allowed me to integrate the different movements separately before to do it all together. Basically, this was the first time someone showed/explained me in such way!
The use of the camera is constant, which is very useful as you can see yourself, and correct immediately. In “usual” camp/lesson, you get a video at the beginning, and one at the end, which is really not sufficient to improve yourself quickly.

3 days allowed me to:
– get/understand/practice the drills, but also the full stroke & kick
– Feel myself in the water, understand what is wrong and what I have to correct
– So I can go on to improve at home with simple drills & feelings
– Reduce drastically my strokes numbers by keeping the same speed
– Change completely my style (that 1 lifeguard recognized the first time I went to the swimming pool at home!)

My plan is to continue to practice the drills & to swim very slowly (but hopefully correctly) during the next 2-3 months, before to work again on the duration & speed…

I definitively can advise to follow lessons with Adam, whatever your level is, as long as you agree to forget what you have learned until now and take time to work on the technique.

See you in a camp in the future Adam, I am sure about it!

You have reignited my passion for swimming

I’ve been swimming since i was a kid and doing triathlons since 2012. I needed something to help improve my stroke.
I found Adams workshop just what I needed. Adam’s passion, enthusiasm and helpfulness were brilliant. Totally worth the trip. The stroke is broken down into steps and he is in the water with you which was a first for me. This really shows his commitment to showing you the correct technique. I’m excited to see where this new stroke will take me. Already I can feel more power, control and relaxed in the water. You have reignited my passion for swimming. Thank you Adam

Deirdre Walsh

No more breastroke for me!

I’ve always struggled with front crawl and since taking up open water swimming I was keen to improve my endurance and technique. I came across the Ocean Walker Technique and knew this could be the answer. I attended a one day masterclass which introduced me to the 5 stages and a completely new way of swimming. I followed this up with a 1-1 lesson with Adam to continue on this journey. The video analysis is excellent feedback that I can keep referring to. I’ve practiced the 5 stages and full stroke and I’m already seeing huge improvements in my endurance and breathing. Adam coaches with great knowledge, passion and encouragement – don’t hesitate to book.

Mike’s Story

As a former Royal Marines Commando I wasn’t afraid of hard work and had always maintained a high level of personal fitness. Why then was it that I was left gasping after only a couple of lengths of the pool?
I knew I wanted to swim well but a few bad experiences with local coaches had made left me thinking swimming just wasn’t for me. Maybe I should stick to grappling and the weight room. I felt I owed it to myself to give it one more go in the water but knew that I needed to find the best out there, the best in the field, I felt after reading about his story that Adam was that person.
I was honest with Gemma about my concerns at committing yet more money to a project that until then had been nothing but negative but Gemma eventually gave me the reassurance that all would work out with Adam’s coaching.
I spent 6 hours in the pool over 2 days (definitely worth the extra day) and Adam worked with me on the Ocean Walker stroke. At the end of the 2 sessions I had shaved 2 seconds and 6 strokes off every length!
I worked hard over the following month doing the drills and feeling more comfortable in the water and with the stroke and a little over a month from the session I’d had with Adam I swam 1000m unbroken for the first time!
This experience has given me the confidence in my swimming, and the stroke, to continue to develop in the water and to work towards my dream of rowing the Atlantic Ocean in 2022. I’d set myself this personal goal prior to meeting Adam but had made a promise with myself that I wouldn’t sign up to the row (or tell anyone about it) until I could swim back to the boat (if the worst happened!!!)
So, thanks Adam for being such a great coach and inspiration to others. I am proof that with hard work and humbleness, anyone can become a competent swimmer using the Ocean Walker technique, even if your experiences before have been bad.
I really can’t tell you what a boost this has given to my training and plans for 2022!!

Mike

Amazing follow up session

Had a 1-2-1 with Adam at the Ocean Walker Academy. The set up was incredible, great wet room for changing, epic endless pool set to just the right temperature, the cameras above and in the pool were spot on.

The big screen on the wall meant we could review my technique in real time throughout the session. The headset which allowed Adam to talk to me whilst swimming was brilliant, I was able to keep swimming whilst making adjustments to my stroke under Adam’s direction. Adam was incredible patient and really clear. In just 2 hours my stroke improved so much I could hardly believe it.

The location is wonderful, the sculpted lake outside looks fantastic and I can’t wait to go back later in the year to try some open water swimming. I will definitely be back for another session. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to improve on their technique, overall I thought it was really good value for money as well.

Imogen Noons

Best technique from best coach

Been a big fan of Adam’s technique ever since it popped up in my YouTube search for learning how to swim a couple of years ago. Since then I took Master Class with a group of like minded swimmers and a follow up session a few weeks later. Both helped a great deal with understanding the method behind the technique and thanks to Adam’s attention to detail, ensured that all my questions were answered with plenty of examples and repetitions. After a few months of practicing at the local pool I went for a 1:1 lesson with Adam that highlighted a few “bad habits” one tends to developed. Namely, an infamous “handshake” which contributes a great deal to over-rotarion and loss of velocity. Unfortunately a year long lockdown put training on hold so as soon as swimming pools reopened this year and Adam could teach again I booked myself for another 1:1 follow up and was able to instantly improve my swimming with a few helpful insights and cutting edge technology that Adam employs to instantly review your progress and offer tips on what to pay attention to while swimming and what not to do. Have to work on my left leg kick being somewhat weak when compared to the other leg (I’m right handed). New facilities are excellent and well equipped and Adam’s teaching is second to none and only gets better with time. I’ll definitely be back but for now it’s daily swimming to cement the technique and build some muscle memory. Thanks Adam and Gemma. Until next time!

WOW Academy

Straight away it is evident that an unbelievable amount of work has been done by Adam, Gemma and her Dad, to getting this academy up and running. Obviously, the resolve and drive necessary to come back from injury to then do The Oceans Seven lends itself to grafting 16 hr days to get your dreams off the ground. One of Adam’s mantras is ‘Never give up on your dreams’ and who could not draw inspiration from seeing him constantly doing just that?
His teaching methods, manner and patience continue to be top notch and are even more enhanced by the addition of his new Endless Pool with several cameras that can be positioned above and below water and show instant, pool side playback and analysis. Very impressive.

Kenneth Dawson

Fantastic session

The session with Adam was brilliant, really focusing on my personal needs and applying his methods to work with my physiology. The first part of the session focused on developing a good position in the water and then building on that to build up the entire stroke. Cameras and video were used throughout, plus a headset so Adam could speak to me while I was swimming. I came away feeling the day had been very worthwhile and I have a lot to work on, but confident that I know what I need to work on. Thank you Adam!

Kira Green

Brilliant 1:1 session

It was really good to go for a follow up 1:1 session with Adam. He has amazing focus and attention to detail, and spent a lot of time patiently correcting my position in the water. I have come away with lots to work on and improve, well worth the journey. The set up at Ocean Walker academy is brilliant, Adam and Gemma are both very welcoming, the endless pool is set up with various cameras so you get instant feedback which is also really helpful. I also had time for a swim in the lake before I went which is also really lovely. Would definitely recommend.

Ellie Thomas

Ocean Walker experience

I really enjoyed my day in the pool with Adam teaching me his techniques and the theory behind his revolutionary swimming.
The set-up was of an Olympic standard and very high tech… He gave me lots to work on coming away, and the video footage will help my development know the end

Garry Bainbridge

Brilliant lesson

There really is nothing like it! I’ve had one to one lessons before but this was exceptional.
The facilities at Adam’s new centre are out of this world. I had a one to one lesson in the endless pool with another teacher but this was in another league. You you are able to view your swimming really closely on the screen or on an IPad, pausing to see the details. This technological support is fabulous, but what makes it really special is Adam’s incredible knowledge of technique. He’s so passionate and encouraging about swimming too, and enabling everyone to swim well.
Afterwards I treated myself to a swim in their lake.
One hundred and ten percent worth the effort to get yourself to Lincolnshire.

K Robinson

Great Lesson

Had a 1-1 lesson with Adam and really enjoyed it! Great coach, each stage of the stroke given and practiced in thorough detail before moving on to the next. Facilities are second to none, great set up!
Overall really pleased and can’t wait to get practicing over the coming weeks/months!

Thanks

Awesome Ocean Walker Experience

I first came across Adam Ocean Walker on Instagram, I thought wow! I would love to swim so effortlessly like he does, as a triathlete, swimming was my weakest discipline, I set about learning the technique straightaway, step by step, not easy to start with, to really benefit learning the drills from scratch is to use Vimeo, highly recommended!
My Husband and I went to Adam’s opening of his academy in June, it was such a pleasure to swim in the gorgeous Crystal lake, we were lucky to meet Adam and have the privilege to watch him swim, it was then I decided to have a 121 with the great man himself, the session started at 10am for 5 hours in the endless pool, as I am deaf relying on lipreading, Adam was very patient and made sure he faced me when speaking, I learnt all the drills, basically I went back to the technique basics.
At the end of the session, I came away with an enormous wealth of knowledge to practice, I will have videos of the session to work on too, at some point, I will return for a follow up.
I throughly recommend a 121 or sign up for his step by step sessions on Vimeo, a swim at the Crystal lake is also a must!
Thank you for the Ocean Walker experience!

Deborah Lawrence

Take the plunge!

In a bid to improve my swimming, I have been attempting to teach myself the ocean walker technique by watching Adam’s online program. Having struggled to grasp the technique I decided to book an OPT 1 starter session at the academy with Adam. The day was great, the tuition, facilities and environment are second to none. It also highlighted how far ‘ off the mark ‘ I was with the technique and I don’t think I would have ever progressed any further with the online option. The fact is that I’m still not there yet but I am confident that I now know what I’m doing and I understand the technique; it’s just now a case of putting in the time doing what Adam has taught me. Once mastered and with a season under my belt I’ll definitely be back for a top up session. I know some may consider the starter session to be a significant investment, but it’s money well spent and great value for money given the time you have with Adam and the brilliant tech that supports the lesson. Thanks v much Paul

Paul Leister

Fantastic.

A faultless experience.
Adam’s knowledge is comprehensive. He’s also enthusiastic and encouraging. The facilities are exceptional. The atmosphere friendly and positive. It’s incredibly helpful to be able to see your stroke on the screen while you’re still in the pool.
After seeing Adam I am swimming faster but for me, more importantly, I am loving my changed stroke. It’s a complete pleasure: so effortless, so strong.
Only problem: I keep swimming into the end of the 60 metre pool where I swim regularly. After training with Adam it’s got shorter! Highly recommended. Treat yourself!

Who knew 5h could pass so quickly

Amazing full day with Adam, trying to master the basics of his technique, to protect my injured shoulder in the long term. He has a great set up and made me feel relaxed and welcome from the start, even helping my friend with local dog walks and sightseeing to fill her day. Adam was amazingly patient and adapted his training to try to assist me with each step. This proved a challenge as who knew how hard it is ‘just to swim and keep my head straight’ and not swim in the shape of a S. The time flew by, we both worked really hard until my brain gave up, but I really did enjoyed the day. Slept like a log that night. Now to put the basics into practice, as this is just the start of changing my swim technique. It will be a longer journey and I will certainly return for a further session. Highly recommend Adam as a patient, relaxed teacher. My goal for 2022 is to work hard, improve my technique and swim some longer distances. Maybe get a cheeky dip in his fabulous lake. My day with Adam was day 1 of that journey 😀

Lynne Woodfine

Everything expected and more

I was totally expecting to be in a pool and taught how to swim the technique, what i didn’t expect was just how professional the set up is and how decent and enthusiastic Adam actually was. Considering his own experiences and the levels levels of people he coaches i was still made to feel just as important as the next. I have come away with plenty of homework to be getting on with and will return in 2022.

Thank you, awesome time had.

Follow up 1 to 1

I completed the swim camp in the summer but wanted to do a follow up with Adam to really understand the stroke better.
What can I say? Adam is so patient! I struggle to get new information in my brain these days but Adam was great at going over things numerous times until the penny dropped! I’m so pleased I’ve done this one to one and would highly recommend it. Well worth the money for such a knowledgeable tutor. Many thanks

Very positive, tons of encouragement

Hi Adam, 24th Feb lesson number three.
Lots to take in, very positive, tons of encouragement from you, I have lots to work at and feel more confident all together, which is why this is late coming, have been practicing while on holiday. I feel myself there is much improvement.
Thanks again, Barry

Endless pool 1-1 lesson

Thank you Adam for a most enjoyable and beneficial lesson, it was extremely helpful in progressing my stroke.
The facilities are fabulous, being able to have instruction underwater with the head phones was great,
so glad I booked a lesson to iron out any little problems: and have the video analysis to refer to going forward.

DIANE CAINE

Fantastic experience!

My husband gifted me the 3 hour OceanWalker experience and being a complete novice at front crawl and never having swam in an infinity pool before, I was extremely nervous!
No need!! Adam put me at ease immediately. Adam made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole session, adapting the method and language terminology so that I found it easier to understand.
It became clear quite quickly that I am not a natural, however, this did not deter Adams’s consistent enthusiasm and patience with me.
The technology applied throughout the session is fantastic and as a visual learner really helped me to understand the process. I am now practicing it in my local pool and hopefully, in time will be back in the lake using the OceanWalker technique.

Jo Poppy

Amazing Tuition

An amazing experience, Adam Walker really knew how to teach each part of the process to enable the final technique. I will definitely be booking with him again but for now will be practising what he has taught me for the next few months.

Darren Dalton

Adaptive and thorough

Thank you Adam for your patience and adaptivity during my starter session. My poor coordination and the need to unlearn sub conscious habits were overcome by Adams deep understanding of the technique and anatomy. A great start to acquiring a freestyle stroke that will give me the freedom in the water I dream of.

Nick Mort

1-2-1 Session with Adam

Had a 1-2-1 session with Adam yesterday doing the ocean walker technique. Being a fairly confident swimmer I wasn’t too sure how much it would help however in 3 hours I completely transformed my swimming style. It Will take some work but very clear the technique works. I’m excited to see where I can go with it. Thank you.

Michael Nuttley

Adam testimonial

Adam was very professional calm and tried to teach slowly and comprehensively with compassion as a difficult skill to relearn.

Karl hick

3 hr session with Adam Walker

I have always been anxious with anything to do with water & battled particularly with putting my head in the water. This lesson was booked last year as a gift & I really wanted to do it but just kept delaying it due to my fears. I then got the courage to set a date & came to meet Adam.
From the minute I met Adam, he made me feel so comfortable. His story is absolutely amazing & that got me the confidence to listen to him.
During the 3 hrs session, Adam broke his technique into clear stages using state of the art sound & video technology to communicate with me while under the water. I still cannot believe how Adam managed to guide me into putting my head under the water. It’s something I thought I could never do.
Through his encouragement, constant support & clear instructions, I was able to battle all my fears & learn his technique.
A truly remarkable & life changing experience for me.
The videos I have received of myself with Adam’s instructions & key points are very useful material to help me now & continue my training before booking my next session with Adam & are a testament that makes me feel so proud of myself.

Old dogs and new tricks

So the saying goes, well its not true. Ive been swimming the same way, inefficiently, and slowly for over 50 yrs, and within 6 hrs of excellent tuition, I had the basics down pat, and could not believe it when I saw the video footage of me swimming OW. Of course it probably took me a little longer to get to this point, someone younger could maybe do it in less, but Im very happy with what Ive discovered and ready to practice and master.
OW facilities are first class, and both Adam and Jim are great coaches, I would certainly refer my friends to them.

tim barker

Back to basics

Had a real eye opening experience, have been doing freestyle probably the wrong way for over 40 years, and have never been corrected. I’m the guy who’s exhausted after 3 lengths. scratching my head as to why.

Adam is fun to work with, and a great motivator, I can see a long relationship developing, and also I am delighted this facility is on my doorstep.

Adam gave me way more time than what I had paid for, and is very welcoming to all levels of ability.

I am going off to do my homework and look forward to my next lesson.

John Griffin

Breaking bad – Building good

Years of swimming 10km etc flat has damaged my right shoulder. I was convinced this method would keep me swimming enjoyably with pace into my retirement. After my 1-2-1 coaching I’ve no doubt now this is the way to swim. It looks easy – but trying to break ingrained bad habits only comes with belief and practice. Putting this new Learning into your muscle memory will take drill practice on top of drill practice. The coaching session is in one way like a rear view mirror – highlight via video and Adam’s encouraging feedback the bad habits I had. However, it’s also like looking ahead at the view to come . Hands on, video, feedback, practice demonstrates where I want to be in 6 weeks time. Thanks Adam, target Coniston and one of your swim camps. Breaking Bad – building good.

Ken Wood

So Excited….

So, I just had my 2nd session with Adam at Ocean Walker, and cant wait to practice, practice, practice. Adam is kind and patient (luckily) and the venue is both professional but comfortable, in beautiful grounds. Being a visual learner the videos are invaluable. I like very much that when you don’t understand something , Adam is able to approach it in a different way until you do understand it. He has brought the small goal of swimming a distance in the sea back to life. All in all a great experience, and would not hestate to recommend to anyone.

Karen Lorenzen

One hour follow up lesson.

Having thoroughly enjoyed a three hour starter course last Autumn I booked in for an hours follow up lesson with Adam to continue my progress with the Ocean Walker Technique.
I can’t praise Adam enough, he was enthusiastic, positive and very helpful, he instantly knew which drills would benefit me, everything was explained thoroughly and clearly and I finished the session feeling extremely positive about how I was progressing.
The facilities are exceptional, incredibly clean and well thought out and the cameras and tech really enhanced my learning experience.
I am already planning my next lesson!
Thank you Adam and the Ocean Walker Team!

Rachel Westbury

Can’t wait for the follow-up!

Incredible experience with Adam, a real professional, patient and focused.
Still doing some drills following our session but I’m hoping to shave 10sec/100m very soon!
Thanks a lot!

Hugues Raulet

1:1 with Adam

Adam, thanks so much for a great couple of hours, I learned so much at your superb facilities. I’ve clearly got quite a lot to practice but I now know where to focus, great coaching and I hope to be back. Thanks again

The Best

Adam is amazing at what he does.

He’s taught my two children to swim, made it fun to learn and given them the confidence to swim. The next step is in his lake.

I can swim, but after Adam reviewed my technique he’s now made me faster, more efficient at my front crawl.

His purpose built facility is the best and i can’t recommend them highly enough.

Thank you

James Kirman

Great analysis

Totally recommend one to one follow-up to re cap technique and prevent bad habits.

Elizabeth griffin

Very knowledgeable

I was looking to learn the basic of crawl having struggled to manage in water with a very weak breaststroke all my decades of life, I found the instructions from Adam exemplary and was quickly able to establish when my movements in the water were natural and felt easy.
Kudos to the teaching here as it was explained very simply and backed up by video analysis as to my +s and minuses and they were quickly pointed out and corrected.
Absolutely first class teaching and I am eager to practice regularly in order to swim competently in the sea this year.

Stephen Allen

Back for a re-tune

Lots of bad habits have crept in since my last visit, circa 6 months ago. So glad I went back for retuning. Well worth the visit and Im sure I will be back for more. Great facility, great instruction, love the technique.

Continuing support

Good to be able to go to back to see Adam again to get some more advice, and encouragement. Came away
Keen to put it all into practice.

Adam can’t recommend highly enough, so worth it. 60%there with the stroke now I need to take these drills and practice practice. Follow up lesson booked let the drills and practice commence. Back and shoulder pain will be eliminated thanks to this technique. Adam thankyou 🫶

Intense Training

I was a little worried that I wasn’t training for anything exciting like a Triathlon or a channel crossing but just wanted to push myself to achieve the effortless freestyle stroke that Adam has perfected. These concerns were pretty much dispelled by Zoe on reception before I was greated by Adam who once again immediately accepted my purpose and level of ability before starting 3 hours of intense but achievable training in the impressive endless pool.

Adam is a very thorough instructor, he quickly understands the pupil and uses the technology available to create excellent, ongoing feedback. Corrections can be applied immediately and a level of consistency can be achieved. Multiple camera angles mean nothing is missed and even the smallest adjustments can be applied to your next attempt at the well considered stages of the course.

On completing the session I knew I could achieve the Ocean Walker Technique. Of course I need more pool time, I have access to the saved videos of my endless pool training to remind me of the drills required to gain muscle memory and I have a new found determination to achieve my goal.

Thanks to everyone at Ocean Walker. I’m still buzzing!

Absolutely brilliant!

Booked a 1:1 with Adam as a retirement present to myself and I’m so glad I did. The step by step teaching method took account of my confidence level and physical ability and I was challenged without feeling overwhelmed. Adam gave feedback on each step using video clips, which are later edited and sent to you. This is invaluable, as the session covers such a lot of ground.

The facilities are great and the use of bone- conducting headphones meant I could easily hear Adam’s instructions and guidance.

I would definitely recommend booking an Ocean Walker session and I hope to do so again. Thank you !

Something different

Adam paid attention to details. He was able to microanalyse components of swimming movements and translate them into simple language. No time was wasted during the sessions. The facilities were superb. The Endless Pool had cameras to capture the actions in all useful angles. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to swim in the most efficient way.

Great Lesson!

I was worried I would lose concentration in a 3 hour lesson, and get distracted, but the time flew by!
Adam explains everything in such a way you can understand, and can see what needs to be adjusted. I found the videos really helpful so I could visualise the position and put it with how I felt in the water.
It is so good to have someone teach you who understands what it is like to have an injury which was inhibiting my swimming. Even after 3 hours I hadn’t aggravated my shoulder injury.
I can’t wait for my follow up lesson!
Thank you 🙂

Amazing swim lesson

Just had my follow up session with Adam, and feeling really positive and inspired! With a shoulder injury which has prevented me from swimming with a traditional stroke, I have no pain following my lesson and using the Ocean Walker Technique.
Adam is so positive, and explains things so well, and tailors his feedback to me…..not giving me too much at once!!
The whole experience of arriving and the team always make you feel so welcome, I love this place, and can’t wait to keep working on my new stroke.

Ocean Walker Academy …lesson’s

Initially I thought this Trip to be pretty Daunting, going directly to Adam at his Academy for a series of lessons ,however it was quite the opposite ,once I arrived in East Midlands Airport ,hired a Car and it was a simple 1.5 hour transfer on excellent Road network to our pre booked self catering Apartment which was booked by Adams ever efficient Assistant Zoe ,being just 5 minutes from Academy it was excellent accommodation. The lessons with Adam were thorough and excellent throughout, with all the drills being videod and analysed and sent to our E Mail for future scrutiny and practice ,facilities at the Centre are excellent ,from wellness to Yoga ,beautiful swim Merchandise and the wonderful Lake definitely the Jewel in the Crown, return trip went very smoothly, Airport is very efficient, nothing left only Practice, thanks a mill Adam and all the Staff …John

World class swim coaching in a world class facility

Having attended a swim camp in Turkey a few years ago and with the passing of time I was conscious that some old bad habits were starting to take over and impact my technique and so I booked a 2 hour 121 session with Adam to understand what I needed to start to work on to improve.

The Ocean Walker Academy is situated in a beautiful location in Lincoln with world class facilities. The changing & shower area are the best I have ever seen in a sports facility!

The endless pool is a large square shape, perfectly lit for filming and analysis, heated to a comfortable 29 degrees meaning that even after 2 hours I was still warm.

Adam’s coaching style is a mixture of patience and perfection providing instant analysis and feedback for improvement via sharing video footage on an iPad after each drill.

The 2 hour session was intensive, onboarding many corrections to my body position, alignment and technique however flew by and was an enjoyable learning and improvement experience.

I received links to the video footage the next day to review, reflect on and implement in my ongoing training.

I would highly recommend this type of 121 session and know I will benefit from a follow up session again in the future.

Ocean Walker technique

I went on the Turkey camp last May and it was a baptism of fire as I am a relative beginner to front crawl and open water swimming, but Adam and Steve were really helpful all the way through. It’s a completely different technique to master and the subtlest of changes make a significant difference and far less effort. I felt I needed a top up so booked a 1;1 session just this week. Absolutely invaluable. I really enjoyed it. Adam has focus and attention to detail and patience to impress upon getting the basics and the drills right and to trust the technique so speed comes later. Practice practice practice !! To anyone who’s thinking of trying this ….go for it. Don’t feel you have to be a competent or experienced or elite swimmer to do this. It is applicable to those wanting to improve ,those wanting to avoid injury /swim with shoulder issues and to elite triathletes..I am def enjoying the drills and feeling the pendulum and enjoying the relative reduction in effort to swim. I am swimming Coniston end to end this year ,I will definitely continue to work on this technique and I can highly recommend the camps and 1:1.
