I was very fortunate to get an early Christmas present from my partner – one hour lesson from Adam Walker. I’ve had problems with my shoulders and neck and Ocean Walker style of swimming seems like an idea to continue swimming and be kind to my shoulders. I was very nervous as I’ve managed to injure my shoulder just prior to the lesson but the style is true to it’s claim and despite my injury I managed the hour in endless pool.

I’ve looked at having lessons in the past but there was no option to do one hour so I was really excited to see this as it was a great way to see what the swimming style is like and also what Adam’s coaching is like.

Adam was very patient and professional and very much on the point. His passion really comes through – he really wants you to “get it”. He broke the swimming stroke down into several easier understandable parts. Filming, analysing and explaining my swimming live really help for me to understand and focus on what I needed to do. At the end of the session I had the basic sequence for the stroke and the foundation to start building on a new way of swimming. Kinder to my body and more efficient. I already felt the lovely glide albeit for just a few moments when it clicks and the timing is right. I know this is the way I would like to be swimming in the future. I’ve subscribed to Vimeo to learn and practise the stroke and I am hoping to be back for more lessons in the future.

The facilities at the Ocean Walker Academy were second to none – very clean, comfortable and very modern. The whole experience was very positive. I went away with some videos to remind me what I need to be focusing on .
